We chat to Emile Sherman of Academy Award, BAFTA and Emmy winning See-Saw Films about his 20 years’ worth of experience going from a boots on the ground producer to leading an international film and television production company and the lessons he’s learned along the way. We pick his brain about co-productions, indie film financing, being one of the first companies to transition to cinematic television and the importance of trust in the film business.

Through See-Saw, Emile has worked with many of the leading actors, directors and writers worldwide including Nicole Kidman, Benedict Cumberbatch, Cate Winslet, Colin Firth, Joaquin Phoenix, Jane Campion, Steve McQueen and Nick Hornby on projects including The King’s Speech, Lion, Top of the Lake, Shame, Widows and State of the Union.

Sherman is a director of Fulcrum Media Finance, a specialist film and television financier that sits within the See-Saw group of companies. Sherman also sits on the board of The Ethics Centre, of the animal protection institute Voiceless, and is a former director of Sydney Writers’ Festival. He recently launched his podcast Principle of Charity with co-host Lloyd Vogelman.  Sherman has a Bachelor of Law and Masters in English Literature from the University of New South Wales.
